Kerio Operator Appliance Open-Source Software Installation Information This document describes the installation of custom open-source software into Kerio Operator Appliance. It describes the process of accessing the appliance and storing packages into the appliance. Unpacking, compilation and installation of particular packages are not the subjects of this document. To install an open-source software package into Kerio Operator Appliance, please follow these steps: 1. Open the appliance system console (terminal): a. In case of Kerio Operator Software Appliance or VMware Virtual Appliance, press Alt+F2 on the appliance console. b. In case of Kerio Operator Box, connect the appliance to your computer via a serial cable and use a terminal emulation program of your preference. 2. Login as "root". The password is the same as for the "Admin" user. 3. Start the SSH daemon by entering the following command: start-ssh Note: SSH will be available until the next restart/shutdown of the appliance. Should you need the SSH access in the future, it is necessary to repeat all the above steps. 4. Make sure that the SSH traffic (TCP port 22) is not blocked by the firewall. It's not recommended to allow access from any IP address unless the appliance is located in a private network. 5. Use an SCP client of your preference to copy the desired packages into the appliance. 6. Use your favorite SSH client to login to the appliance (login as "root" with the password of the "Admin" user). 7. Take any steps required to set up the packages (please refer to the documentation of the particular package).
